Hello Mac Owners,I am trying to gather a list of questions to ask when inquiring over the phone about a boat for sale. This would be my first sail boat and I am looking for a 16 - ALTHOUGH, I almost fell off my chair when I checked the newspaper today and there's an add for a Mac 21 for...... $750.00 (it must be too bad to be true). I thank you for your time and input.....

Check the web...

I just did a search on "buying a sailboat" and got lots of hits. Take all those lists and make up one you like. Then make up a list of things to check when you look at the boat. There are several good books on boat inspections out there.Good luck and happy sails,Ron

If going for a 21.....

then check the hull in the area the trailer bunks end. That would be approximately just forward of the mast. I bought one last year (first time buyer) and that area was pushed in a little. I'm guessing it was on the trailer for several years before I found her. It doesn't seem to effect performance as far as I know but it's still a concern (and a major project I "may" someday attempt to fix. Otherwise, it's a great boat.Good luck.Bob
