Questions concerning 85 Hunter 23'

I recently acquired a 1985 Hunter 23. In prepareing it for sailing I have run into a few problems. My first question concerns the electrical system. I had the cabin lights working and the stern light, but in the process of trying to fix the bow light, somehow now none of the lights work. The fuses in the switch panel are not blown however. Is there another in line fuse somewhere between the battery and the switch panel? Second question: I have the 85 model with the swing keel, and I may just be blind, but I have yet to find the line to raise and lower the keel. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Happy sailing, Jason Thomas

Check the panel...

Not sure, but it sounds as though the positive lead in the electrical panel may have worked loose. Do any of the other electrical accessories work? If not, then that's likely to be your culprit. I'm not aware of any other fuses in the wiring, but that's not to say that another owner hasn't modified the system in the last 16 years. For the second question, the swing keel H23 was a limited production model- I think they were only produced in 1985. I'm not even sure where to begin looking for a centerboard raising line... --Jon Bastien H25 'Adagio'

Thanks

I was able to find a lose connection and solved my elictrical problems for the most part. I am still looking for the line to raise the keel however. I have a photocopy of the owners manual that refers to the fixed wing keel model, and not the swing keel version, so that hasn't helped any. Thanks for the input Jason 'Seas The Moment'

ANswer to your question

I had the same type of problem regarding this matter of the electrical system/interior/stern lights. There is a ground wire that runs off of one of the interior lights that is the ground for the stern and all of the interior light. You may want to check the connections on all of lights. Also regarding the swing keel line to raise the kewl. On my 23.5 there is a rope that goes down the side of the mast. It looks exactly like a main sail line. I
