We are looking at a beautiful 2004 Beneteau 473. We have been told that within the last year Beneteau has refinished all of the interior woodwork (because the original was peeling) replaced the countertops (because the originals cracked) and that the owner has replaced the refrigerator and all the batteries (because both just gave out in 2008). Does this sound right?

Benetaeu sent some craftsmen from France to redo my interior. (Varnish had bubbled.)
Also had a crack in the head door white laminate. They fixed all of it at no charge to me. (They do all their wood work in France and send it over to the Marion factory.) In 2004 and 2005 thy had some moisture issues with the varnish spray nozzels.

Hope this helps, you will really love the boat!

Re: 473

Yep, a friend with a 2004 473 went through all the same issues. Beneteau stripped and refinished all the interior wood and you cannot tell it was not factory finished. Their countertops were also refinished due to cracking issues. Again no way to tell they were repaired. As for the fridge it's not so much the fridge but the freezer that's an issue. Difficult to keep things frozen. We had a similiar setup on a 361 and found that placing a wire rack in the bottom of the freezer to allow air circulation all but solved the problem. Changing out the batteries after 5+ years, especially not knowing how they were cared for, is not an issue. Hope this helps.

BTW the 473 is a very nice boat. Sails well, stable and very comfortable both above and below deck. Good luck with your decision.

Do new beneteau boats (beneteau 46) come with covers for the v berth and the berth in the back?
