I need a scrap of info please, if anyon ecan help, since I'm not near my boat to measure it. Does anyone know, or can someone measure the diameter of the tubing on the original Mk. I stern rail ("push-pit")? Thanks, jv

Thanks -

- that's what I was thinking, but when I went to West Marine at lunch and looked at the tubing and fittings it seems larger than what I am used to. I guess it's down to 1" or 7/8", since that's what's available in fittings, etc. Note mine is an early model - 1984 Mk. 1, with the single-piece stern rail assembly (no seats). What's on yours? jv

...so, another interesting parameter, the wall thickness, adn the alloy - 304 or 316? I know this is lunatic fringe, but I was thinking of getting a scrap of tubing for a temporary repair, and it's available 304 or 316 in .049, .065 and .120 for the 7/8" stuff, and the same plus .1875 and .250" wall thickness for the 1" stuff. Also as seamless or welded tubing. S many choices!

1 inch on 1986 Mk 1

Hi JV - I added sternrail seats to my 1986 C36 Mk 1; as I recall the stern rail is 1". Great addition! Trevor

Thanks

Thanks Mick and Trevor, I crunched my stern rail Sunday, bent and flattened one tube. Called Catalina Direct and found a new Mk. 1, one piece is $824 plus $12 crating charge, and approx. $150 to $250 truck freight, 6 to 8 week delivery. The new stle 2-piece with seats is $1150 plus $100 crating, same freight and lead time. For the old one they'd need templates of my existing one's "foot print." Makes fixing the broken one locally an easy decision. Regards, jv
