Someone contacted me tonight wishing to buy my Ericson sailboat. My question to this forum is..where do I find a price listing to know how much to ask for my boat? It is a 1974 27ft Ericson with 30HP Atomic4 engine. Thank you. PJ

You can get free NADA appraisal at nadaguides.com. A quick look at your boat shows an avg. retail of $7900. It does of course depend on condition, equipment, etc. but NADA is a reputable guide.

Thank you!

Thank you very much for your quick reply. I hadn't advertised my boat in over 2 months(and only a few times at that), but someone contacted me tonight out of the blue who saw my boat sitting on land. I haven't been able to sail it for years..so I might as well sell it..though I am still quite attached. PJ

$7, 500 is ballpark for a typical one.

As Captain Dave said there are considerations for condition and any major upgrades. The Atomic4 engine is a drawback in that it is a gasoline engine. People shy away from gasoline engines in boats for safety reasons.

Out of curiosity...

I wonder how little to let it go for. In all actuality, I guess I won't know until next spring when I can have someone try and start it up and see what happens. Here is the thing.. I haven't turned the engine over in 6 years. Yes, it has stabilizer..but how bad is it--that I have not even started the engine up in so long? Besides that, the boat is very dirty and needs a lot of cleaning..inside and out. The man looked at it today, but wants to wait til spring before making any commitments to buying it. Now that I think of it..maybe I should have told him he could have it for $5-6000..just to take it off my hands. Every year I keep thinking I will feel much better by next year and THEN I can put it in the water once again..yet, having the money is a factor also I have to consider. Thank you for your response. You mention some health concerns

as the reason for the neglect of the boat. Is the condition of the boat overwhelming you? Would you gain some peace of mind to get it out of your life? Has it become an Albatross for you? If some one else had the boat and restored it to a nice usable condition would you be pleased ? Or would you regret not having forced yourself to do the same? Would you use a smaller day sailer?
