I've got a 1997 Hunter 310, and want to oil the cabin walls and cabinets -- does anyone have a recommendation for wood cleaners, oils and the like?

Lemon oil is wonderful and won't darken the wood over time. Great sheen and smell once you are through.

Most any citrus oil works great. You should check with Hunter, but I think you will find that these models had Daly's Seafin oil finish. It is quick and easy to apply and will look like the original factory finish.

Interior wood

Hi David, our 1991 P42 has lots of teak cabinetry, which appears to have just an oil finish. When we first purchased our boat in 2002 the wood was in pretty good condition. At that time we went through with a standard teak oil to clean and refinish all the cabinet wood. It still looks as new and rich as the day we purchased her.

During the damp cold winter months when mold usually forms on wood products we keep humidifiers running and a space heater on low to help keep the boat dry and mold free. So far that practice has worked to keep the interior wood finish looking like new.

If the condition of the teak wood cabinets has deteriorated due to wax buildup, mold, dirt and poor care, a good quality wood cleaner and/or refinisher should help perk things up. Then top it off with a good quality teak oil to add patina. If you prefer more sheen, you can apply a clear satin or gloss spray lacquer to the teak oil once you reach the color you want.
