Mine is in the lazerette (sp?). The previous owner had a low profile plastic 6 gallon gas tank rigged on top of the holding tank and strapped down with rubber bungie type straps. He left it with the boat when he sold it to me, so that is what I use. It's nice that it's out if the cockpit, I've seen others that have them in the cockpit. But, it does add weight to the starbord side and those F235s already are starboard heavy.
Tom,I like what you descriped in your response and would love to do something simular on my 1988 F235. Do you have a photo or two of the box you make to hold the gas tank? If so that would be great.Keith A
Tom, your correct about the gas tank in the lazerett being a problem with gas fumes. On my boat there are two scoop vents to vent the lazerett, one I face forward, the other back, so it's well vented.
