Question on adding deck organizer to port side.

I purchased a custom deck organizer from Garhauer for the port side along with a triple crutch from Spinlock. I have been told you shouldn't drill all the way through the deck mounting plate but the bolts that came with the organizer are two inches long and the screws for the Spinlock are also to long. Do I get shorter bolts and screws or cut them down? If I use the bolts that came with the organizer and nut do I put an inspection plate in the headliner in the cabin so I can get to the underside? Has anyone else installed or had installed hardware on the port side installed on the plates molded into the deck? I purchased some shorter bolts and screws for the organizer and crutch but they only come in 1/2 inch increments so they will either go all the way through or have to be cut down. So any help would be great. I am going to us the new organizer and crutch for a rigid vang control line and two reefing lines. Another different question is, I have a ZSpar mast and what do you use to attach blocks to the holes in plate at the base of the mast so I can turn the lines to the organizer? The shackles on most of the blocks I see at West Marine are to large to fit through the holes, what else can I use? Carl s/v Wind Shadow

embedded aluminum plates

Locate the plates hunter installed, drll and tap them to mount your hardware. Try rigrite for your Zspar Hardware

Which Model?

Newer models have aluminum plates embedded in some places in the deck, while older ones (like our '77 h27) require bolts through the deck and lining. Your model and year will help us to guide you. David Lady Lillie

Got Specs?

I too am looking to add some deck hardware on to a '97 h26. Does anyone know any specs of the embedded alumininum? How thick is it? How deep? What length bolts/screws to use? Thanks

Thanks on Block question:

I see by the link what type block I should put in. It didn't even occur to me on a fixed post block, I feel stupid. RigRite has the perfect blocks for what I need to do. So does Us-Spar but pricey. Thanks. I quesss I will experiment with the depth of the aluminum. If I go all the way thru I quess I just need to make sure it is chalked very well and check it each year. I really don't want to put an inspection plate in the forward cabin but it would give me peace of mind. This is a learning boat on my way to a larger one so make mistakes on the small one not the big one right. Carl
