Is it just me or does your main sheet ever catches (eg during a tack or jibe) the dorade-type vent on the deck below the boom? I need to find a solution to this.
Thanks

One simple solution would be to support the mainsheet as it crosses over the vent with a SS ring hanging from the boomvang with a short length of shock cord. Set the cord length so the sheet stays above the vent.

The vang and the sheet always move together at that location. The shock cord privides some 'give' JIC.

Actually I was thinking of removing the pin that holds the boomvang end and place a larger pin that will hold a block too.

There is space to hand a ring from the boomvang itself and it's a very easy solution that I have also thought. However I am not sure if it's wise to hang it from there (I mean form the actual boomvang) and not from the pin that holds the boomvang (so the stress will be on the fitting on the boom).

Edit: Have a look at the photo of what I mean. The horizontal arrow shows the pin to replace with something bigger and hand a block from there besides the boomvang end. The vertical arrows shows a space at the boomvang from where can be very easy to hang a ring with a piece of dyneema rope or something similar from there.

That would be the reason to use shock cord.

98% of the time, the ring hangs loosely in one place, with the sheet under tension passing straight through it on it run from the bast base to the boom.

1% of the time it is under slight load as the sheet sags when tacking or gibing.

1% of the time it stretches a bit under some funny load.

Ah, so you mean the ring will be hanging from a long piece of rope just above the vent so most of the idea there will be no load on it. Interesting idea.

Yes, straight down from the vang.... maybe a 2 feet. I'd recommend shock cord.
