I have a 1988 H23 with a Z-190 mast and the old style mast base (with sheaves) and tabernacle.
My winter upgrade plan is to lead the halyards to the cockpit. I also want to devise a mast raising system. Most of the suggestions in the archives are for the other types of masts. The problem I see is that the cast knuckles do not appear strong enough to use as a hinge. An upgrade to the new base looks better for mast raising, but I would have to redo all the standing rigging and it eliminates the sheaves. The Rig-rite site says they have an adapter that solves the rigging, but leaves me without the sheaves and having to cut exit holes in the mast.
Has anyone tried either of these upgrades?
Does anyone have mast raising suggestions or systems? (yes I know its been done to death but I havent seen any for the cast base I have)
