Brian, how did you get your old holding tank out and the new one in your 37.5? Ricky

H37.5 holding tank removal

On my 1995 H37.5, the original aluminum tank came out through the access panel in the aft state-room, but only after sawing off the existing aluminum hose connectors flush with the tank first (Sawz-all is great). Do that by going in from above using the lazarette in the cockpit, which is how you will also get to some of the screws holding the tank to a stringer. I had to disconnect and move the large manual bilge pump hose out of the way that runs in-between the holding and fuel tanks. Then it was a maneuvering process to wiggle the tank out but it came on out. Installing new tank is the opposite (assumes new tank is no larger than the old). Tank fittings such as PVC elbows are screwed in to the couplings on the new tank *after* it is in final position (new plastic tanks I'm familiar with are built with screw-couplings welded in place, that are almost flush with the tank walls). Obviously, I’m only speaking of experience on my boat—others may be different, but from what I understand, the same dimensional tank was used in all years of this boat 1990 to 1996. I don't know if all years have the same access panel (do you have one?). Check with a tape measure first to see if your tank(s), without the fittings, will make it through whatever access panel you have. If you don't have an access panel, you will need to cut one. I 'm finishing up a primer covering all my experiences replacing the tank. I'll post it soon.
