Question about main panel breakers

The breakers in my Hunter 36 panel have one of the rear screw connectors at an angle like this:

They are not easy to find and quite expensive.

Is it very easy to find breakers with both connectors straight - does anyone know if those would fit?

Thanks,
Andy

I am not sure the bend is manufactured, more likely bent during install to facilitate the installation.

The uniqueness of that breaker is more likely the addition of a Spade connection to the end of the lower connection.

I am an avoider of spade connections on a boat that is in constant motion. I feel the connections are working their way apart and will short out or stop functioning when I am not prepared to deal with the repair.

I would prefer to have solid ring connectors screwed to the contacts..

Thanks for the replies. Here are some answers:
  • The picture I showed was only to illustrate the angled connector and I didn't notice the spade at the end. Mine don't have that - just the screw.
  • They are manufactured that way. I was able to find one when I needed it, but it was the last one in the store. Of course I don't remember the brand :(
  • I had considered bending a terminal as suggested, but that seems like last resort as I don't know what it might do to the breaker's internals.
I was hoping someone else with a similar boat has encountered this and found a solution.

Maybe I'll ask the Hunter Owners Shop - they might know.

Thanks.

You bet. Ask @Dave Groshong. He will know.

I have not seen the bent design. Not even sure it is needed. Is there a reason you need the bend?

The bend is as you have said part of the way they are manufactured. It’s done that way to Facilitate the way the buss bar attaches to all the breakers in that column.

They are available on the SBO site is you look at the store listings by boat model.
In addition here is information I was sent as I was researching and dealing with a breaker that failed last summer. I’d additionally thought they were Blue Sea breakers and reached out to them. Here is information I received.

“We have found that Airpax a series toggle breakers are the same size as Carling Technologies a series toggle breakers. Here is a link to all of the black toggle A-Series breakers we have: https://www.bluesea.com/products/ca...rs/A-Series?Actuator_Style=Toggle&Color=Black.

Please also look at these so you can confirm the size of these breakers with what you have:

I hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any further questions or if you would like any additional information. Thank you.

FYI, Mike from the Hunter Owners Shop also confirmed that they have some.

That makes total sense. Been there did that.
