However there is a small bonus. It is our family tradition after the Thanksgiving meal to go around the table and think of something that starts with each letter of the alphabet that we are thankful for. Some letters like "Z" are nearly impossible to come up with anything good, until this year. We were thankful for Zoom. If you think of any other period of time this kind of thing could happen, its amazing that it happened now, with such great technology for communication.
Man what the heck happened to Skype?

Microsoft ate the company (I think in 2011), chewed on it for a few years until it had fallen out of favour and then killed it off. Too bad as it was pretty useful in keeping people connected, oh wait that’s called Facebook, no Twitter ..... ;)

No I haven’t gotten my results back yet so no state tracers involved. The facility were I was exposed called to inform me and doing what I do, I asked a lot of questions and they actually didn’t plead HIPPA and answered all of them. This is how I know. Being were I work we have internal systems that gets direct direction from the health dept bringing about my quarantine. The Thanksgiving thing pisses me off, but the difficulty is what to do for the next week and a half until my wife flys out if the test is positive.
Pierce County HD is directing a 14 day quarantine (from point of exposure) regardless of test results. They are offering a 10 day option for emergency services with labor hardship but I’m not operations so 14 days of working at home, boat, cabin wherever.
MIke,
You probably already know this; however, the CDC just changed the guidelines / protocol last week.
If you are in close contact with someone who is covid + ( within 6 feet for 15 minutes), you should quarantine. If you remain asymptomatic and test negative, you can stop quarantine after 7 days. If you remain asymptomatic and have no test, you can stop quarantine after 10 days.
14 day quarantine is still best.
I share your pain. Had close exposure on Monday, Nov. 30. :yikes: Got tested on Friday Dec 4 and received negative test result on Monday. Remained asymptomatic for duration. Back at work today, 10 days after exposure. Really sucks; however, looking at the bright side, I didnt contract the virus and did my part to help!:)
Take advantage and get a couple of boat projects done. Good luck & stay safe.

About 30 minutes out from Penrose. The front arrived just as I entered the cove. I learned I need a high power spot light. My Streamlight just doesn’t cut it in fine rain. Decided to grab a mooring instead of the hook. I normally don’t but I know these moorings have heavy ise

interestingly enough state, city and county entities do not have to follow CDC. My county decided that regardless of the test results they are mandating (what ever that means) 14 days post exposure. They will allow 10 days for emergency services that have a hardship workforce. I’m not on the floor anymore and have the ability to work remotely so yea, I got caught up on some computer stuff this morning, sailed to my next location and putting in a couple more hours since it’s dark at 1630hrs. I took my work laptop and my vehicles cradlepoint so I’m well connected. I should hear about the results tomorrow.

We still use Skype at the office, but I think it is turning into Microsoft Teams.

Mike.

Your imposed exile from civil society is great for you, you know why you are alone on your boat.... It got me wondering as I sit here also quarantined (self imposed for the betterment of the locals - after my trip to Florida.)

I think I have a solution. When coming into a foreign port the Captain orders the Q flag raised till they clear customs.

Perhaps this might work aboard your vessel...

I can see we need to modify the shirt. Perhaps the Red “C” needs to be attached with Velcro.

Had a two-fer yesterday. I got back to the slip and my wife and son came down and we went over to Gig Harbor for their boat parade. A little dicy getting in because we got there after it started and waiting in the narrow channel at ebb made it interesting but once in and in the hook it was really fun. Drank cocoa, listenened to Xmas music and watched the boats circle around us.

Well, what do you do when you are told you are in quarantine for 14 days by the boss and “ I don’t care where you work as long as it isn’t here” and you don’t want to take a chance getting your wife sick right before a flight to see our oldest.....that’s right, you go single handed sailing!
I was notified by a medical provider that she tested positive, forcing me to report my exposure and get tested. Results take 3-4 days, I feel fine so it’s a e day local trip with remote work in the mornings. Lemonade out of lemons. There a lot of people hurting physically, mentally and financially from this crap. I am very fortunate no to be one of them. First night on the hook in Quartermaster harbor then I don’t know where. I might go south.
Good for you! Enjoy! Post some pictures for those ofnus who have to go to work!

Doing the same here in the Bahamas. They’ll just have to develop treatments and vaccines without me. While at the marina to check in, I met three sets of boaters who had packed up the kids and set off to escape the third wave. Two of them had just purchased their boats for exactly that purpose. You are not alone.
