JUST GOT BACK FROM STRICTLY SAIL in St Pete. Wow, can someone lend me some money? I spent mucho. I loved the hunter 49, cept it was difficult going forward on deck, too skinny. The Island packets were lovely things of beauty-got an idea, if everyone were to donate some money to the "gotta get abig new boat fund" it might make one empty hearted sailor well again!!!!!!!!Back to reality, guess I will fork over some small money to upgrade the new old boat. Its an od25cb. When I bought it it had nothing sept standing rigging, boom, mast, rudder, and some nasty and rotten interior. I bought some halyiards and sheets for dirt cheep at the show, and I got quotes for a new mainsail, never had a new main, or any sail for that matter on previous boats. Has anyone delt with quantum sails in Florida? THe owner/salesman was awsome at the show. Beat everyones prices by a few dollars, but included name and number. Get this...he is going to come by the house this week and take measurments of my rig!!!!!do you believe it???? Anyway the sails will be made in the us of America!!! the other quotes were sails from China and i think Shrelanka? let me know, thanks Patrick

I've got news...Quantum builds its sails overseas also. Some custom sails for large programs are cut and made in Traverse Michigan. Stock sails except for some chutes are outsourced. Repair and service can be obtained at the local lofts.

Quantum A+

Hi Sailor, I cannot speak for Florida office but here Quantum is best, they cut the best sails, best service, good price period. For racing just look at the sails of the boat who won the North American J24 this year (shamelesly plugging a good friend here) seriously they are very helpful and priced cometitively. On other boats I raced on, a 34 and a C&C41, after the sails were cut one of their rep came for a sail and did adjustments to the rig (Mike is Olympic Silver Star medalist), then showed everyone how to take max advantage from the new cut in the sail (draft was moved in the sail etc), he was willing to bring one genoa back to the loft to do some minor adjustments. Great people and competitive prices. BTW I really do not believe in mail order sails, every boat is a bit different the sail loft should send someone to look at the boat, mesure, etc, then should come back for a sail when the new suit is done. A good idea is to invite them at an around the can wednesday night race or such. Buy the guy a beer after, the sail maker is your best friend and you will need him again. You cannot have that with mail order. Cheers, a.
