PYI Dripless shaft seal

The mechanic installed a PSS shaft seal and connected it to the vented loop to supply water to it. My understanding is that it doesn't need water for a slow speed boat.
Should I leave it alone?

Yes. Compress the bellows for a fraction of a second to let the interface get wet between the graphite and stainless disk. Then you’re golden until the next haul out and relaunch.
