Have read many of your posts. My boat has head stink ;-) Seems to be the line from holding tank to macerator. All other lines seem ok. Probably will replace all to be safe. Every thing this line passes through stinks. And wouldn't you know it passes through the ac compartment! I was pretty sure Hoffa was buried in that compartment for at least a week. Have done warm rag test and this line failed where others passed. Boat sat and was not used much by previous owner.
Getting ready to replace line from holding tank to macerator and want to know if pvc pipe is a good option vs the trident 101 line recommended. This line is never used for macerator and is lowest point in system. It will hold waste no matter what is done as it is below pump out line. If the original hose became permeated wouldn't the trident hose in the long run? This is in a Hunter 38 and the run is pretty straight. Thoughts? And thank you!!!

It depends...

This line is never used for macerator and is lowest point in system. It will hold waste no matter what is done as it is below pump out line.

It won't if you put a y-valve in it and also relocate the macerator...or better yet, remove it....'cuz you're a looooooooong way from any waters in which you can legally dump the tank.

You really need to redesign the plumbing coming out the tank...the discharge line should go straight up--in which case you can use hard PVC to the top of the tank, then switch to hose. That will solve the problem of waste sitting in that line. If you're not gonna use the macerator pump, remove it...if you are using it, replace the tee or wye with a y-valve and relocate the macerator pump to put it above the tank.

Peggie Thank you for advice. Two follow up questions. 1) will pvc pipe hold up in the marine environment that it will be subject to? 2) Will a macerator pull suction enough to self prime when located above tank? Last as follow up to make sure we are on same page. The tank has one input, two out (macerator line from bottom of tank, and a suction pump out that exits top of tank), plus vent line. There is no valve at tank. There are two cut off valves. One 6 inches before macerator, approx 8 feet downstream from tank, and one at the through hull approx 6 feet down stream from macerator. Tank is at far aft. Through hull midship behind keel.

Yes to both your questions...but...

Two discharge ports in the tank is a game changer--a GOOD one made even better that one is on the top of the tank. Let's move the other one...it's easier to do than switching between hard pipe and hose Email me...let's discuss the specifics of what's involved.
