I am having a diver work with me this weekend to put on my new rope to pull up the center board any one have any suggestions the best way to do this, how to feed the rope through the hole ect and attach the center board thanks for your help

I replaced the centerboard (CB) rope on my O'Day 20 while the boat was on its trailer. I passed the rope through from above. It goes through a hole in the back of the CB. I tied a figure-eight knot in the end (accessible in a hole through the CB) and then heat-sealed the knot so it could never untie itself (hard to heat-seal under water). Then I centered it in the CB. One Precaution
Just make sure the shackle is narrower than the CB slot, as it can get jammed higher up in the slot if it is too wide. Jack has given an accurate description. You could also sew the two lengths of line (old to new) using sail thread or in a pinch, dental floss. You don't want the 2 lines parting in the CB tube (not impossible to get out if it does, just a PITA). I also have used a narrow, long throated D shackle, to join the CB pendant (3/8"rope) to the CB. What pendant are you using? Size? All rope or rope/wire? The shackle will only work if its all rope. Did you buy the CB pendant "kit" from D&R marine? Or are you making it up yourself? Don Don
