Hanking?

Anyway, when putting the mainsail on the boom, do you start at the mast end and put the carr/bail/slug (sp?) in the grove, then the bolt rope?

OR, do you put the bolt rope in at the sheet end of the boom first then the carr in last?

The reason I ask is that the groove is very narrow, about .086 inches, and the wires that go into the carr are too fat on my sail.

I noticed that the grove is thicker for the first few inches on the sheet end of the boom... making me wonder if you put the sail on bass ackwards.

Thought I would ask before I take my dremmel tool or file to the wires.

Thanks,
Roy

Hi Roy
I'm a little bit confused: the foot of the main has a rope
and you feed that rope into the grove , starting at the
mast. At the end of the boom you have a line; with this
line you control the tension for the foot. For the mast you
have hanks, feed those in starting with the highest one.
You should have a stop pin for the main. (and it's a good
idea to have a line - starting about at the second hank- to
controll the luff.)
