Hi everyone. I just bought a sailboat. Down below, the last owner must have felt the need for hooks on the walls. He used some putty-like material formed a clump and attached it to the walls. There are 4 of them. Each has a small hook embedded in them. What is this stuff and how can I get them out? Thanks, Jack

Epoxy?

If the "stuff" is now hard as a rock, it's probably thickened epoxy resin. If that's what it is, you'll have to grind it off. 40 grit oughta do it.

Not Epoxy?

My boat came with a few of the hooks that you buy with the adhesive strip on the back. DesolveIT contractors solvent (Home Depot or Lowes - don't remember) took off the adhesive without marring the finsh.

haha.. define ..."clump".....

actually, I know what you mean. I assume it's rock hard too. Also, sounds like epoxy of some sort. Do you have a Dremel tool? (sigh) good luck. You sure you can't use 'em. The hooks, not the clumps...
