My friend is considering a 2004 Beneteau 393, 3 cabin design. It has air conditioning and furling main. I sailed on it last year with him. Seems to be a real nice boat. Curious to know from others familiar with this boat about strenghs and weaknesses of the design. Thanks.
I have a 2003 two cabin model. The internal configuration is quite different between the two and three cabin models. Otherwise, the hull and rigging are the same, I believe. Sailing-wise, the boat is very capable in all kinds of weather. Not real fast, certainly not a racer, but pretty good in light air and when properly sailed it can handle 30 knots ok.
The condition of a used boat matters more than anything else. If it was in charter, like many 3 cabin models, I would be very certain to have it professionally surveyed before buying it.
Meanwhile, there is a very good user group over at
