I am looking at a 2004 47s oceanis Clipper. As this will be my first Beneteau i was wondering if others can share some insight as to the inherent issues with this model. They all have them... after all it is a boat... I will be using the boat primarily in the Med, with longer passages planned in the future, and will live aboard for 4-6 months a year... depending on how hungry I am..... Thanks in advance for your help.. And what exactly is the difference between a regular oceanis and Clipper model... Mike Attitudes are contagious, is yours worth catching....

B473 Issues

I've had our 473 for two years. One of the well known "issues" is the stern sits low in the water. On most 473's, you'll see the "lip" of the transom sitting on or just below the water line while at rest. This leads to a constant problem of discoloration. This is compounded by the weight of a generator and/or stern dinghy davits. I've never heard about the difference between the Oceanis and the Clipper versions. In the US, Beneteau doesn't use the Oceanis or Clipper designations (at least not on recent models including the 473 that I know of). The 423 is a very similar model and there is a very active forum at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/beneteau423. There is also a 473 forum at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/beneteau473 but it's not as active.
