Pumpable Porti-Pottie

I've looked for one but cannot find one to put on my 23.5 Hunter. Our regular porti-pottie works fine but it is a long way for us to haul up to empty and a not too pleasant job at that. Seems like it would be easy to install if it would fit the space intended. If you could pass on a manufacturer and model I'd appreciate it.

BOAT/US, West Marine, Defender all carry them

I'd recommend the 5-6 gallon model. It's taller--which is nice, and still fits in the same footprint as the 2-3 gallon portable model. SeaLand 965MSD model is the best quality.

Thanks

I was looking for the word "pumpable" but if I had looked for "permanent" or had read the description in the catalog I would have found it. The folks I spoke to at West's and at Boat US did not know either. One tried to talk me into just putting fittings on the one I have to "convert" it. Thank heavens we have someone who always has the answers.

Bad News

I measured the clearance and there is only room for a 13.5" tall porti-pottie on a 23.5. A SeaLand 965MSD is 15.5" tall. Back to the drawing board.

Where's it going on the boat?

If it's under a cushion in the v-berth, take the lid off and let the cushion be the lid. That'll knock off enough height. The only thing that would be exposed is the bowl, which you'll rinse clean after each use...and it will be under the cushion.

Not Sure it Will Work, but Good Thought

It sits under a hinged platform that makes up a corner of the v berth. It is 14" to the top of the platform. I will go back to West's and measure it does not look like there is another 1.5" to be gained by removing it's lid. Besides it removes one of my arguments for a bigger boat. If she doesn't want to carry it up and dump it she will have to let me get the bigger boat right?

If you can't leverage this problem into a...

bigger boat, a thinner cushion may be the answer. Depending upon how it's made you may not have to re-cover...you may be able to have it "hollowed out."

Figured it Out

I looked at one of the Porti-Potties yesterday and realized that all I have to do is remove the top when we want to use the vberth. The rest of the time the platform and the cushion can remain in the uprite position. Felt stupid for not thinking of that in the first place so now I may not get that bigger boat after all.
