1999 C30 has direct pump out lines that have a flexible ribbed tube inserted into a piece of hard black rubber tubing about six inches long and then connected to the hard plastic of the value. The contection between the fexible and the hard rubber has no clamps and is apparently glued in. Well they all leak. What have others done to fix this problem? Thanks Dan Miles

There's only one thing TO do:

Replace all the hoses with proper sanitation hoss, fittings and hose clamps. There's no way that could be an OEM installation, btw...a PO has obviously pulled out the factory installation and replaced it with cobbled up mess. I'm amazed that your surveyor didn't note it as a correction to be made by the seller as a condition of sale. Does the boat still have a holding tank, or did the PO remove it? Btw...you might want to check out the link below before you start to tackle this project.

More info and questions for Peggie

Regarding my sanitation lines. It's a long story but the dealer (Turner Marine) installed a direct pumpout with a Y valve to go to holding tank or directly out. My question is are there any legal codes as to these type connection and if so where can I find them? Would Catalina be interested in what their dealers are doing? Thanks Dan

I'm not sure what you're asking

If you're wondering whether the installation is legal, the answer is yes. Federal marine sanitation laws do prohibit the discharge of untreated waste (directly from the toilet or dumping a tank) within 3 miles of the nearest point on the US coastline...but once you're more than 3 miles out to sea, you can flush directly overboard and/or dump a tank. If you're wondering whether there are any standards or "building codes" and whether your installation meets them...the answer is yes and no. Except for CG regs, there are no compulsory "codes" as there are for buildings on land, but there established standards--ABYC, UL, NFPA--that all reputable builders voluntarily follow and so do most dealers. Do you have a problem with the dealer's installation? If so, what specifically?
