I'm getting ready to do some spring upgrades on my 2001 H260. I'm thinking of getting the new Jabsco Par-Max miniature automatic demand pump and installing it before the "T" out of the fresh water tank so it can supply both faucets. It says it is self priming to 4 feet and can run dry with no problems. It also has an internal pressure switch. Has anyone used this pump? It seem ideal for the H260. -Jay

check tank

I guess the reason for installing a pump may be that the hand pumps supplied may not work all that well. Ours didn't however we found that the tank had been installed in the factory on its side so that the outlet was half way up and so you needed more than half a tank for them to work. We cut the retaining staps and laid it down so the outlet was on the bottom. We fitted two non return valves at the T junction. Both hand pumps work perfectly now.

fresh water pump

I just installed the Parmax 1 pump in my 25.5 along with a pressure reservoir to reduce cycling. I installed it right before the T in the line. It works great for both faucets and I am very happy with it. I am not sure if this is the same as the miniature parmax or not but I think it is close. I am really pleased with it. Dan

We have the same pump

Put a 25-gallon flexible tank in the bow storage compartment, ran tubing to the two faucets teeing off the ParaMax (no pressure tank), and installed two new faucets. It works great and it's a joy to just turn the knob and have water come out!

new faucets?

Is it necesary to replace the original fausets once a pump is installed??

Good Question Al

I wondered the same thing. I saw someone elses H26 that had installed an elec pump and they did not have to replace the faucets. One position of the hand pump lever opened the faucet and the other closed it. Easy!

Thanks for the info

on the faucets. How did you run the electrical wires back to the breakers? Did you fish them thru the PVC(?) pipe that the water tubing goes thru?

Al, Yes, that's what I plan on doing.

I haven't started installing the pump yet, but I plan on running the wires through that PVC, back accross the top wall under the galley area and up through the small conduit into the cavity behind the elec panel. Also, I talked to a few people who suggested an accumulator also with this set-up, but after talking to West Marine and other "pros", I've decided that I don't need it with this small of a set up. Cycling of the pump would only be a problem if I left the pump on all the time, which I don't plan on doing. Need water, turn switch ON, use water, finished, turn switch OFF.
