In reverse what side will the boat pull to? What is your method?

Usually port.

Most Yanmars spin the shaft clockwise as seen from the rear and in forward. These use RH(right-hand) props. In forward you get propwalk to starboard and in reverse to port. My port propwalk was excessive until I installed a Flex-O-Fold. Now I find that wind is more of a foe. To counter propwalk I used to give it bursts of power and then move to neutral. Coasting gives much more steerage once the boat is moving.

port

my 29.5 in reverse pulls to starboard from the aft. using the prevailing winds to my advantage I have learned to control the process.

i have a 290, they pull to port in reverse, however, i find this effect to be less then my old 27. my 290 is quick to steer after "prop walk" I don't shift in and out of reverse because this increases the effect, once in reverse, at low speed, it steers out of port easily, however, if you tend to increase speed to much, too soon, then effect becomes greater and harder to steer out of. If you backing into a slip, its best to turn your boat around well before you enter slip and steer in backwards, because once your moving and in steering control, you'll only have to shift into neutral and once moving, putting back into reverse reduces the 'prop walk" effect. ps I love this boat, so much room and still easy to single hand.
