Pulling compression post

This fall, after the temperature drops to double digits so that mammals can once again go outside, I need to pull the compression post on my '98 H26. I've got a rain water leak somewhere around there, I've already pulled the mast step and re-caulked the screws but no luck.Has anyone done this? Have you tried calking around the compression post where it penetrates the deck? (from the outside).Also, do you have deck plugs for mast lights ect. in the area? Check those closely.

Check rubber wiring boot

I discovered a rainwater leak at the point where a wire exits the compression post near the cabin roof on my '97 H-26. There is a rubber boot at the wire entry point. Rain water was slowly leaking from around the boot. I sealed it with liquid silicon calk, and there is no longer a problem. Check this out.Don BarberS/V Third Degree

I have a similar problem. I've had the experience that during a rain storm I had water running down the headliner on both sides thus soaking the cushions around the table. It looks to me that my leak is somewhere around the area where the center board line enters the compression post at the base of the mast. For now, I just have a piece of clear plastic (visqueen) taped down to cover the area and keep the rain out. I was wondering how much of a job it would be to remove the compression post as well, and if it would be worth it. Don't have a clue how to go about sealing that area....Any ideas?Tom M.

check the small opening well

Check the CB down-line and jib and main transition pully areas. We had an issue in this area at the junction of the little well and the compression post.. caulked and it stopped!
