Dear Kevin, I have a dripless seal, installed by the dealer. The other day, just doing my routine checkout, I noticed that the shaft seal wobbles about 1/8" if I grab the collar and move it side to side. This is the part of the PSS seal that has the carbon sealing ring, side closest to the engine. It moves in and out like normal, for example when I burped it, but is it supposed to also move side to side??? If feels like the ring is larger than the shaft. I get no leaks and it seems to work ok. Hope this explanation makes sense. Thanks for your help. I love the PSS seal!!! Roc

Made that way

Dear R. Palaia: The carbon ring is designed with the hole oversized to allow the shaft to float in case vibrations are present. This prevents the shaft from making contact to the carbon face. Hope this helps. Take care and please feel free to let me know if you should have any other questions. Sincerely Kevin L. Woody
