PS-31 Owners, In our search for the "Perfect Boat, the PS-31 appears to fill most of our wanted features, including the Scheel keel. I am very curious as to how much, if any, pointing capability is lost when compared with the deeper draft keel. I also would like to hear of the boat's handling behavior in tight spaces (slips, gas docks). Of course, anything else you'd want to share would be most appreciated. Thanks, Tom K.

Tom, I have a Pacific Seacraft 31 with sheel keel. The sheel keel design makes up most of the difference in the 11 inches lost over the full keel. Since there is no scientific way to give a precise difference in degrees you are left with subjective feelings. From my research I have concluded the difference is slight enough to matter only to very serious racers and that would not be your priciple motive in getting a PSC31. Cruising conditions will include dozens of factors you can influence including putting on an inside track if you would like a bit more bite. Tight spaces - My two blade fixed prop can be a bit irritating getting out of the slip with the stern pull to port. I have tried all the tricks I have read about without much success. Apart from that the boat is incredible. It continually exceeds all expectations, it sails better than me, it looks great and is very comfortable. The company is fantastic and treats me and my 1988 PSC (bought used) as if I bought it new yesterday.

I have an interest in the PS 31 and 34, and am curious as to the headroom that each of these have. Do they have 6' of headroom throughout the cabin, including the bathroom? Thanks.

Headroom on the 31

MNP, The cabin on the PSC 31 is 6'2". I am just a tad under 6'2" and have no problem even with the liner. I believe the head is the same but I do not have any problem there either. John PSC31 #28
