PROPOSAL: 2015 First 235 Nationals at Wayzata Yacht Club

Crazy, but hear me out. Let's get the band back together!

There are now FOUR 235s at WYC.
There is one former WYC member who keeps his boat across the lake.
Knottingham is on Lake Harriet 9 miles away. EDIT: As well as John's new boat.

So we could have 7 on the water before breakfast.

There are 2 in Duluth, and 2 on the river. And another WYCer amazingly keeps his 235 on the hard and has not sailed it in years. Peer pressure.

So that's 12 that could be there before lunch.

We are centrally located, so a day drive from most places.

WYC has magnificent race management, and great facilities. A full-time US-sailing certified PRO with trained staff and 3 boats. A regatta could piggy-back on the three weekend WYC events, and/or hold their own courses.

Dates open. I'm making this up as I type. And I have a glass of wine in hand.

Anyone up for it? Roadtrip? People can crash at our house, or sleep on the boats!

Madness! Just bought another 235 that is tucked behind my garage, prepping her for spring launch... So that makes 7 on the water before breakfast! Hmm...

Who's in? Better hit up the rest of 235 team and gauge interest..

The BIG question is, which 235 are YOU going to buy to have ready for race day?!!!! ;^)

What will I sail? Not sure. Bribes may factor. And I do scan CL for some woebegone fin 235 sitting in a barn somewhere....

Brilliant idea! As you know I just returned from Florida with my new to me 235, number 4 at WYC now. This would be a blast and I would be all in for it. Ordered new sails yesterday too! So, what is it going to take for Jackdaw to crew with me?? (I have vodka and cigars and beer and whiskey and......)

There are 6 at WYC now.... 4 that race weekly, Steve keeps his on a buoy near his house but races his 7.9. Eric does not sail his. But Stuart moved from WYC to Shore wood because he could not find enough time. And of colurse the two on Harriet.

But remember spin fleet only..... time to raise your game! ;^)

No sorry my bad, three race.

The 4th is owned by Steve (Kestrel crew) who keeps it on a buoy at Minnetonka Beach. He owns an S2 7.9 at the club and races that.

The 5th is owned by Eric, who has not sailed it in 4+ years. It on a trailer. He races on a J/24.

The 6th is Stuart, who is a member but moved his 235 to Shorewood last year. He loved being at WYC but did not race enough to get the discounted slip rate. But he would do a regatta (or let someone else sail his boat in it!)

Somerset sails and I am on a ball at WYC. I used to own a 1977 O'Day 25.... I know I know.. LOL Was on a ball with that as well.
