Hi again Peggie.

Is it OK to leave vinegar in the system (after flushing it out of the bowl) for an extended period of time while the boat is unattended (a few months)? Thanks.

Yep...won't hurt a thing. BUT...

You should have already flushed it all the way to the tank--or at least most of the way. As long as none is left sitting in the bowl or the toilet pump, it won't hurt a thing.

However, a few weeks is one thing, several months is a full fledged layup. So if you're gonna let the boat sit for several months, I'd let the vinegar sit for a day or two, then THOROUGHLY flush out the whole system including the tank and any overboard discharge pump and plumbing with plenty of fresh water...pump or dump it, so that you're left with a clean system when you come back.
