I have a Hunter 25.5 and the electrical cables for starting the our board just come through the transom and there is a flimsy black rubber boot that is screwed to the transom (no caulking or sealant). Anyway like a lot of things on my boat it seems like someone did a half ass job. The boot is ripping out of the screws and I need to replace it, but I'd prefer to do it properly this time around. Can someone describe or send pictures of how to properly seal this type of thing? -- Jeremy

Talk to an electrican

In one of the electrical supply stores and tell him that you need a water tight feed through and for what size wire. There is no situation on a boat that isn't encountered in industry.

Hi Jeremy, how's it going?

My H 23 also has the dodgy hole, but with a clam shell vent over it. I think the PO just ran the fuel line over the transom. The thing is, we need to be able to disconnect the electric start wires easily. How about a shore plug/socket arrangement? Water proof, heavy enough current, etc. What do you think? BTW, I'm thinking of West Islip marina... Where are you slipping this year, or are you staying at South Shore Sales? Chris

Looking for a slip....

Hey Chris... we plan on moving but we are still looking for a marina. I have a lot of calls in but it seems like a lot of people are still closed or full. I have one place I am interested in just looking around a bit before I sign a contract. West Islip Marina? is that a town marina? I will have to check that out. -- Jeremy
