I'll be launching a 1979 Hunter 25 this weekend. Does anyone know the recommended tensions for backstay, forestay and sidestays? There was an old post here that gave a Web site URL for a reproduction of the original Hunter 25 manual, but the URL is dead. Anywhere I can get a copy online? TIA

h27 stay tension

I use 550 on the uppers, and 420 pounds on the lowers on my '77 h27. If you have 3/16'ths cable, your numbers would be close. Check the archives for a complete tuning procedure in a recent post. David Lady Lillie

Some rules of thumb

The upper shrouds should be set to about 15 to 18%% of their breaking strength. A reasonable guide for tension is that about 10% of the boat's displacement equates to about 15% of the upper shroud breaking tension. The lower shrouds should be set to about 10% of their breaking strength. If all the rigging are the same diameter, you should set the tension on the lower shrouds to about 7% of the boat's displacement. ~ Happy sails to you ~ _/) ~
