Every now and then you see something that justs says so much about how to care for your sail boat. I thought it would be easier to just post a picture rather that try to explain. Enjoy!

so sad

the sad thing is that someone may only find out about their boat from this picture- notice there are no footprints in the snow

What is that white stuff?

Great shot - did you take it from the other side, in a dighy or were you walking on water? The sail looks ok but what is that white stuff? This is what it looked like a week ago on my 26. Shows that there are other things to do in Texas than talk about the Super Bowl in the winter. Come on down the water is fine.

I'm not that mean!

Don't worry Tom, I know who's boat this is. He was willing to GIVE it away last fall but had no takers (my hands are busy enough). Now I'm sure he really regrets not getting it out of the water. Pat- Yeah- I wish I could walk on water. Are you telling me it's warm enough in Tx to sail even now?? Just FYI, NY in Jan.had 23days under 32degrees..(averate temp. was 23degrees) I can't wait to thaw out and take the tarp off of my boat. BTW- the boat sunk in a canal- i was on the otherside of the canal.

Boat

So did they ever get the boat back above water. Or is it still frozen under the ICE. Is he still trying to give it away.

I love Kemah

Pat, I know exactly where your boat is. I love Kemah. Just wish I could go over more often. Once the weather warms up enough I'm trailering my 23.5 over for a long weekend. I'm waiting until it is warm so we can sleep on the boat. Plan to get a transient slip at Seabrook Shipyard on the other side of the bridge because it doesn't look like the marina at Kemah has any shower facilities. I love to eat at Mele's Mexican restaurant.

Jonathon - Try the Boardwalk

The Boardwalk Marina does have transient slips and also showers and a pool. It is owned by Landry's Resturants so they keep it clean. For a weekend it is a fun place to stay - like staying at a carnival a bit and you can walk from the marina to the restuarants, shops and bars of Kemah - no hassels with parking etc. If you stay at Seabrook you have to drive across the bridge. You will need to find a place to park your trailer and car after launching - the marina may have a suggestion - see link. If you go stop by slip C-45 and say hello.

Pat, I'm planning a possible trip

this spring sometime. We were there (Kemah) last March and had a great time. This time I'd like to take my h23 and do some sailing on the Bay. Any suggestions or comments. Thanks Dave Noack s/v Wind Dreamer

Launch Site

Stay at the Boardwalk Marina. Day time sail whatever way the wind blows on Galveston Bay but be careful to not cross the Houston ship channel and watch for large vessels and barges in it and give them plenty of room. Acnhor out at Redfish "Island" (not much but offers protection from wave action)- At night eat at the Kemah boardwalk or any restuarant within walking distance. Party at T-Bones or the Turtle Club. Oh yeah - Launch under the Bridge of Hiway 146 at the Clear Lake Channel - SE side.

Thanks Pat!

I will contact the Boardwalk Marina to find out if they can recommend a place very nearby that I can park my trailer. I might try and see if I could pay extra to park it in the big gravel lot across form the marina that you pay to park when visiting the boardwalk. I will contact you off the forum to get info to get to Redfish Island. Thanks, Jonathan
