I have a 28-5 on a four post cradle. When I purchased the boat there were 2 cracks in the hull where the pads touch the boat. I think the boat was dropped causing the cracks but are 4 posts enough or should I be customizing my cradle to a 6 post. Thanks Jeff

Hi Jeff, 6 pads would be better but are not really necessary as 4 pads is OK and shouldn't be a problem. It's important however to understand that the bulk of the boat weight should be on the keel (75-80%). And that the pads are basically there to hold the balance and not the weight. Do check that they are at the proper height for the boat. If they are adjustable, bring them down before haul-out and adjust them to the proper height when the boat is brought on the cradle, just before it is released from the travel lift (or crane). Good luck

As said above the post are only to balance and it should be resting on the keel all of the weight and adjust the poles snug.
I had my 36 with 6 pads from July to about Oct last year and I could easerly move the pads one at a time for new bottom painting, but 6 supports for my 36 Hunter 6 was needed
