I've been wondering, my sailboat has the 8hp yanmar, it came with no instructions at all. While sailing should i let the prop freewheel in neutral, or should i put it in gear? thanks for any help.

In reverse, with qualifications

I seem to remember that the Yanmar manual said put it in reverse. I will check this weekend and post if incorrect, although it is our practice to do so for the last five years with no problems and I am reasonably sure it was in the book. Of course this means taking a chance and following the directions. I always add this disclaimer that it is for the particular model (Yanmar)that was used in the 1982 H27.Andy"Baroque"
