to rework the stuffing box I had to cut the propeller shaft. The coupling wouldn't budge. Anybody have any experience with any of the online vendors for propeller shafts?

You're in the sailing capitol of the world. You'd be much better off finding a local shop.

Good luck.

Send an email here to SBO store. They will look in stock and if not will get a price on having one made.

I'm doing the same thing, and have two local vendors who can supply me (West by North and Explorer Yachts). I don't know about online...

How did you cut your shaft (I'll have to do that first thing when I lift the boat)

I don't see prop shafts listed here anymore but I got the best deal right here at SBO on my prop shaft/coupling set a few years ago.

That's why I said send an email.;) I was just quoted on one last week. The peeps behind the scene here at SBO are movers and shakers, they'll get it done.

Start the engine, put it in gear, and rest your hacksaw on it. LOL. Just kidding Don't do that.

My old shaft was made of bronze so my angle grinder with a cutoff wheel made for fast easy cuts. If it's stainless, then it would be long hard cuts ;)

Only had a cheap hacksaw and two new blades. The hacksaw was trashed in the end, the thread was stripped on the tensioner. But it finished the job. Not too fun but I had already spent hours with a puller I made to fit in the small space available. I couldn't believe it wouldn't come off. Local mechanic said they had lifted motors to get the shaft out under the motor! Will decide Monday if old coupling worth reusing. Talked to a guy at properpitch.com who sounded knowledgeable. Going to check local also.

The quickest way through a stainless shaft is with a zip disc on an angle grinder. Make sure it is made for stainless as a ferrous disc can plug up and disintegrate, I know, I've pulled chunks of disc out of my inner leg once, and yes it does hurt right away!
