Hello All, I was wondering if anyone has experienced their propeller shaft bracket dropping down as seen the attached picture. If so, please let me know what you did to repair it. I believe some fiberglass cloth and resin will keep in back in place, however, if you have a suggestion please let me know.

Best,
Kevin

Finally figured out what this is after seeing the bottom of your picture :

This is your strut which should be attached to your hull like the Rock of Gibralter. Please supply a picture of what shows on the interior of hull directly over the strut or better still, a picture of the method of attachment of the strut taken from your Bene manual. You can find your manual in the downloads of this site. I have never seen a strut like this.

Once you do this, a number of highly experienced people will be able to give you some good solutions to your problem. This is going to require an alignment job somewhere along the line if you are interested in doing the job correctly. Think cutlass bearing as well.

This is going to be one very interesting repair.

Enclosed is a picture of a identical boat that does not have the issue and a picture of what our strut looks like with it pushed back into place. OMG, I just realized I might have the opportunity to use Phil Swift's miracle product, Flex Seal on this repair, just kidding.
Thanks for the quick follow up.

Most struts are one piece with a T at the top to secure them to the hull - hard to imagine one like this moving up and down like that unless the fiberglass was damaged:

I'm wondering if yours is a 2-piece strut since you can slide it up and down. If so, it could be simple fix to secure the pieces together, maybe just tightening the screws - here's a 2-pice strut, obviously you should determine what was used in your boat:

Great information, it slides up and down so smoothly that it must be the 2- piece strut. I'm going to check with the Mfg to see if they have a record of what was installed.

Thanks,
Kevin

Good luck.. 1989 was eons ago in the boat build world. The guys building the boat in 1989 are most likely retired and gone sailing.
I hope you are successful.

The identical boat doesn't have that issue but it will soon have another issue with a burned out cutlass bearing as the forward zinc is obstructing the cooling water flow.

Nice pictures so far but ....................

Please supply a picture of what shows on the interior of hull directly over the strut
