I am sure that there is alot of talk in the archives regarding the issue of which prop is right for my boat. I have a 1980 Hunter 30 with a Yanmar 2QM15. It currently has a two bladeed prop. Is this the right one? Or, should I be looking at the 3 bladed props? If so what size, pitch etc.

Two works fine

I've got a two on my 29.5. You may want to consider feathering props. Pitch depends on the angle of the shaft. Any competent yard can calculate it quickly. Archives do have lots of info.

I changed mine

I have the 1980 Hunter 30 with the 2QM15. It came with a 13X13 two blade. I could not get much speed or RPM's out of the boat and it would not back straight. I replaced the prop with a Campell Sailor 13X9 three blade and I am very happy with it. I get better boat speed and more power in a head wind and RPM's in the specification range. The boat still has a mind of its own when back ing. If I had it to do over again and price were not an issue, I think I would have gone with an Autoprop.

Campbell Sailor

I just installed a campbell Sailor 13x9 on my 76 h30 when I did a repower. Really like it but boat does have alot of prop walk in reverse, I think due to the boat design.

Thanks for your input

Thanks alot for your input. I think next year I will try the 3 blade prop. 13x9. I am starting to use the prop walk in reverse to my advantage now. Thanks again
