I am considering replacing the fixed propeller on my 2006 Sun Odyssey 40.3 with either a folding or feathering prop to improve sailing performance. Any suggestions as to what make/design would be most suitable and best value.

Flexofold

After much research on this subject I chose a three blade Flexofold, however the right prop for your boat may be something altogether different. Suggest calling Flexofold and discussing with them how you use the boat and what you would like to see improve. I was persuaded by the test results they publish on their site. I also had OK results with a two blade Martec. Sorry, but I can't see a good reason for a feathering prop. although I have friends that have them and like them. http://www.flexofold.com/default.htm

Jeanneau DS40 miami
for my Jeanneau

Ken - i have married a Jeanneau DS40 - had a maxprop - self pitching/feathering prop - it works very well for me as i get a bit better speed under iron wind power and when under God's wind and put in reverse it also gives me a bit better speed - i also have no prop walk when backing - just what i did - good luck chuck and soulmates
