I have an 84 37' cutter with the 4 cylinder Yanmar 4JHE engine rated at 44 HP @ 3600. The present wheel is a 2 blade 15 X 16 that I believe to be the original factory equipment. I am considering going to a 3 blade and am wondering if anyone has any personal experience they could share regarding brand and dimensions for a 3 blade. Also on the HOW site the wheel listed for a 37 cutter is a 2 blade 15 X 16 but I get the impression most of the later model cutters had 3 cylinder engines and I know at least some earlier models were produced with 2 cylinder engines. Thanks Glenn 84 37c

Props for H37C.

That's right Glenn, I have one of the underpowered H37Cs with the 20HP. But on that boat I have a Flex-O-Fold two blade that works very well. One of the reasons I bought that brand was because the company owner was so helpful and knowledgeable. I went with a 2-blade because I motor very little. When I leave this little pond(Lake Erie) I will probably want a 3-blade. And probably from Flex-O-Fold. Link is below.

3-Blade

Glenn, I also have an 84 37' cutter with the 4 cylinder Yanmar 4JHE engine, however, mine is rated rated at 40 HP @ 3600. You evidently have the turbocharged model. I have a fixed three blade prop, 15RH14 (don't know the brand). The original two blade prop came with the boat laying in the lazerette. I've never tried it. So, I can't give you a comparison based on experience. All I can say is I don't have any complaints. Works good enough for me to not even consider a variable or auto prop, mostly because of cost. My boat pulls pretty hard to port when motoring and backing up, but I think that is pretty typical for all sail boats.
