I have a 1986 Beneteau First 375 with a 28 HP Volvo Penta 3 cylinder engine. I wish to change out my current 2 blade 17 x 12 prop for a 3 blade prop. I am interested in achieving better motoring manuevrability, particularly when docking and in strong currents. Is there anyone that can offer any first hand experience and advice with such a conversion and suggest where I might search for a 3 blade prop? Thanks.

Going from 2 blades to 3 this is exactly what you will achieve (at the cost of more drag though). In addition you may get rid of any vibrations that 2 blades may have, especially if your boat has a skeg (though I think the First 375 has a p-bracket). All the above from personal experience after replacing my 2-blade fixed prop to a 3-blade fixed prop.

Changed to a Kiwiprop feathering three blade. Much smoother under power than the previous fixed two blade. I don't really think there was any improvement in maneuvering there is still prop walk, top speed was also not improved, I think it is somewhat under pitched (although that is adjustable)
