Propane Tank

Hey All,
I am in need of a back-up LP gas tank for my new-to-me 1999 Catalina 310 (hull #1) and I wanted to ask: are they the standard 11 lb tanks?

If by standard you mean heavy duty aluminum tanks available at RV dealers, then, yes. Although, mine was labeled a 10 lb. tank, I think. Not cheap, either, but worth it to have that spare tank available on long cruises.

Tom, thanks that is what I meant by standard so I will pick one up at the RV store.

Fiberglass replacement tank

I have been told that there are cheaper, lighter fiberglass tanks available but I have never seen one. Ask an RV Dealer.

The fiberglass tanks are a good alternitive but you have to be careful as they are a bit larger and may not fit in your current propane locker if it is a tight fit

West Marine has the 10 lb composit tank made by LEAR for their propane outboards on sale this week for $99.99. (4/19/13)
