Propane sniffer on a B331

I have assumed (perhaps incorrectly) that there is a sniffer on my new to me B331.

Can anyone tell me where it is, if there is one?

I can't believe they would make a boat in 2004 without one??

Unless someone has added one probably not. We have a 2005 343 and no propane sniffer on the boat.

None on our 2014 model, so I wouldn't be surprised if your 2003 didn't have one either.

Where would you mount the detector? In the stern bilge where the propane hose runs toward the galley? Next to the propane locker drain? In the galley? In the keel bilge where the gases might collect? Probably all these locations with a multi-detector system. Plan on replacing the detectors per required changeout schedule. Or you could just be sure to turn off your gas solenoid as soon as you stop using propane.

I spent approximately 30 charter days/nights on a 2004 Ben 331. No
Sniffer was present, nor does my 2006 Ben 343 have a sniffer. As Gunni mentioned, keep the stove on and turn the gas solenoid circuit breaker off to burn off the gas remaining in the line between the tank solenoid and stove. Be sure to turn the gas knobs off on the stove after the gas in the line is burned down. I also like to take it a step further when sleeping aboard or away from the boat by turning the gas valve off on the tank.

I just can't believe that ABYC standards would not require one. Incredible! I always switch the solenoid off when not using, but I'll turn the tap off at the tank off in future as well when finished.

Thanks for the comments.
