Propane regulator bad?

On my H340, when I start a range burner it puts out plenty of flame, but slowly decreases over 10 minutes until it is just barely burning. I can't get everyone's pancakes cooked. If I turn everything off for 1/2 hour, the process is repeated. Does this sound like a propane regulator problem?

Dying flame

We had a similar problem on our 356. I replaced the gas solenoid to cure the problem. West Marine and others sell the solenoid for around $85-$90. Ouch!! If you have access to a Parker Distributor (Plumbing supply house?) and give them the number from the valve, it will cost about $35. Good luck and Bon Apetit!

Pancakes

Ken, Could it be that the gas cylinder is too well insulated? The gas in storage is in liquid form and it has to evaporate in order to become a gas. This process cools the remainder and, if the bottle is very well insulated, the evaporation slows down to a trickle. This normally happens in cold climates but you could try leaving the gas bottle locker open whilst cooking.

Its the Solenoid

We had the same problem on our 356. You can actually feel the solenoid get hot. We Replaced it and have had no problems since.

Definitely The Solenoid

Iagree with Rob. It is the solenoid. We had the same problem and ended up replacing the solenoid to fix it. In a pinch, as a temporary solution, you can wrap some crushed ice in a thin rag and lay or tie the rag onto the top of the solenoid. The ice keeps the solenoid from overheating. Good Luck

turn off the solonoid

turn the solonoid off when not using the stove. The solonoid will get hot when there is no gas-flow and leave some residu blocking the flow of gas. I had the same problem, cleaned the solonoid (found a lot of dert). Now every time I do not use the stove I turn off the solonoid, I do not have the problem anymore.

Resolved: Yep, 'twas the solonoid

Thanks guys, we changed out the solinoid and yikes! now the range flame is HUGE. Maybe I'll even bake something in the oven. And I always do turn off the swiches when not using the stove.
