Some considerations below with links to threads on this subject. Others may have made this conversion and can offer their experience:
1. LPG locker must be a dedicated and sealed space. Could accomplish that with an LPG locker and install that in the aft locker (
Propane (LPG) Lockers). In addition, all non-LPG system items-shackles, tools, etc.-must be removed as they can easily damage system components.
2. Make sure the locker opens directly to open air.
3. Provide a dedicated thru hull 1/2" minimum diameter drain at the bottom of the locker that vents directly overboard above the water line far enough away from other opening (air intakes, sink or bilge pump discharges, engine exhaust, etc.) that could allow gas to re-enter the hull; ensure the locker vent hose slopes downward and is free of blockages, loops, and kinks.
4. Provide a means to secure the tank.
5. Inspect the locker by checking the bottom, sides, and seams for damage (corrosion, cracks, holes) that could allow gas leaks into the boat interior.
6. Provide a pressure gauge, regulator and manual or electrically operated solenoid shut-off valves, which you probably already have, in the locker near the tank.
We are getting ready to install a new propane stove in our Catalina 30 and I'm wondering where those of you who use propane store your tank at. Our boat has a mount for a 50lb cylinder already

I recently installed a new Force 10 propane stove in my 1986 Hunter 34 (H34). I'm now preparing to install a 93268 Seaward propane locker kit. After reading several posts by other hunter 34 owners I believe the best location would be to install the locker on sliding rails in the rear lazarette...
