Looking for a propane locker lid, starboard side for a 2004 386 hunter sailboat. I am told that that lid is tha same as the one on a 460 and 466 hunter as well. Crossing my fingers!!!!

It is my understanding the part is not available for ordering. I'm not really sure about the purpose for those lids, it falls to reason that they would be used to prevent the overflow of gas if the vent at the bottom became clogged but the lids do not seem like they would hold back gases. Perhaps is to protect the mechanical parts from physical blows or to prevent water from entering the locker. If you cannot find a replacement I would explore making some sort of a lid to protect the regulator and valves and to prevent water spray from entering and would frequently check the vent to make sure it is properly discharging outside the hull. No one has been able to tell me for certain what the purpose of those molded lids is for. I'm sure some surveyor will cite its absence and some insurance underwriter will require it. Another thing I wonder is why these lids are not sold as replacement parts? Judging from the number of people that loose the overboard I would think they would keep them in stock. But what do I know?
