I AM ATTEMPTING TO INSTALL A PROPAINE UNIT IN MY 1981 CATALINA 30. THE ONLY PLACE TO LOCATE TANK IS IN THE STARBOARD LAZZERETTE, SO MY QUESTION IS CAN THE LOCKER BE LAYED ON ITS SIDE RATHER THAN UPRIGHT? THE LOCKER IS A SELF SEALING UNIT FROM SEAWARD.

Questionable

I would think that storing and using propane on its side would create a problem with the pick up given half the LP would be under it.

I bought the small tank from Seaward and got it to fit in the port corner of the rear locker. I installed a tru hull fitting into the transom for the drain lance

Gass bottle have to face up

I have seen alot of boats with 6lb aluminum tanks mounted on rear pulpit with braded hose s and stainless steal clamps. It looks ok and it works good ,but I have the locker in the center of my lazaret. Its a tight fit ,and kills alot of space and only has 6Lb of propain so I run out three times ayear but I have two 1Lb tanks in my anchor locker.I got a adaptor from defender and put the small tank in the propain box.

Propane Tank

I got the Seaward small propane tank locker into the lazarette of my Catalina 27. I has to go in sideways with the top off then sit it up straight and put the top on inside the locker. If it will go into a 27 it certainly ought to go into a 30.
