I purchased a new bronze prop, and would like to know how to keep it from corroding, pitting, and accumulating barnacles on it. And yes!... I am going to install it on the shaft and put it in salt water and not on my mantle. Thanks!

Putting a zinc anode on the shaft close by will

help with the corrosion. Barnacles are another problem entirely. I suppose that if you keep it turning they won't get a chance to get started.

Before you install it clean it well with prop wash

( available from the chandlery) and then coat it with propeller pitch (also available at the chandlery), and you shouldn't have any problems. ;D
