I have a 1983 9.2A.

Current Configuration:

Yanmar 2GM
2 blade fixtes prop (Dia & pitch unknown) I'm assuming it was stock.

I'm looking to get a little more bite from my prop - especially in reverse.
What are the trade-offs.?

Is a 3 blade the way to go.... or change of pitch in a 2 blade?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

You really can't change the pitch to suit reverse. The prop is picked to apply the best torque at a given rpm range. Too much load or too little is a problem. You likely just have to learn to deal with what you have. Sailboats just aren't designed to back up.

Feathering props flip the leading edge over in reverse for more thrust.
They are available in both 2 and 3 blade I believe.

i have a 15d...10p 2 blade on mine it was calculated to be a 15d..11p 2 blade but i think with the age of the engine a 10p will be just right ...i do have a 11p and a 9 p just in case i am wrong....
