Hello Everyone! I have a 1990 Hunter 35.5 that has so much prop wash my Autohelm cannot handle it. I have a two blades (original prop) and when under motor power (most of the time on the way to the Bahamas) the boat pulls to port big time. Any ideas? Does anyone else have this problem? How do I fix it. Customer service at Hunter suggested a three blade prop but didn't knopw if that would help. Seems expensive if it doesn't work. Help!

Smaller diameter prop.

Ken: You may want to consider a smaller diamter prop. I would suggest that you contact Bob Kilian at Bay Props in Alameda, CA. 510/337-9122. Just explain your problem to him and see if he has any ideas for your problem. He has a process that puts winglets on the prop tips and also adds some cupping. It is a small investment and may help your problem.

That is hard to believe unless your prop is oversized. I have a two blade (factory standard) and now a folding prop and have not had any trouble. You may want to check your Autohelm compass and make sure there is no metal near it.

Prop Walk?

I can't believe that your auto pilot can't hold a course on your boat. All it does is drive the rudder to control the boat. There are setups for the autopilot that may need to be adjusted. One of these is how fast the auto pilot moves when it receives an input from the DG. Check your setup manual. Matter of fact, I still have the original two bladed prop on my 35.5 and the 4000 auto pilot works great. Jim
